Identifying features: This species only has one dorsal fin. Upper body is silver gray with a blue or green hues. The lower body is silver white, while the sides of the fish are silver. The jaw is positioned in such a way that it allows for easy bottom feeding.

Description: The bonefish travels in loose schools and roots out shrimp, shellfish, crabs, and fish from the bottom. It spawns offshore, eggs hatching into ribbon-like larvae that metamorphose into fish-like form at about 2 inches and move inshore. The is an inshore species and sometimes can be found in waters less than 6" deep. Inhabits sand and grass flats, shallow coral reefs and lagoons where it feeds on crabs, shrimps and other shellfish. Fighting characteristics of the Bonefish can be labeled as only - FANTASTIC!!! A very fast, strong fish that fights well beyond it's size. Long, powerful runs are typical for this fish. Ideal fish to target with fly tackle.
